Fourteen Vermont Projects Receive Grants from the 1772 Foundation

The 1772 Foundation, partnering for a second year with the Preservation Trust of Vermont, awarded historic preservation one-for-one matching grants totaling $125,000 to fourteen private nonprofit organizations maintaining historic sites in Vermont.

Grant recipients include:

  • John G. McCullough Free Library, North Bennington ($5,000)
  • George Peabody Library, Thetford ($5,000)
  • Landmark Trust USA for the Amos Brown House, Whitingham ($10,000)
  • Brattleboro Museum and Arts Center ($10,000)
  • Bixby Memorial Free Library, Vergennes ($5,000)
  • Brandon Free Library ($10,000)
  • Goethe Community Trust for the Champlain Club ($10,000)
  • Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village for the Alexander Twilight House, Browington ($10,000)
  • American Precision Museum, Windsor ($10,000)
  • Catamount Film & Arts Co. for the Catamount Center for the Arts, St. Johnsbury ($10,000)
  • North Calais Memorial Hall Association for North Calais Memorial Hall ($10,000)
  • St. Albans Museum ($10,000)
  • Westford Common Hall ($10,000)
  • Bennington Museum ($10,000).

Grants are awarded for exterior repair and restoration work for walls, chimneys, porches, roofs, windows, foundations, sills, masonry and more.

President Ben Doyle stated, “The Preservation Trust of Vermont is deeply thankful for the wonderful support of The 1772 Foundation. Whether used for painting, fire safety improvements, or window restoration, this critical funding will help preserve and revitalize buildings that Vermonters love, ensuring that the future of our villages and downtowns remains bright. “
