Churches and sacred places continue to play a critical role in the health and wellness of our communities. They often act as overflow shelters for our most vulnerable citizens or as community gathering places for cultural performances or events. All the while, these buildings can be challenging to maintain. We offer this retreat in partnership with Partners for Sacred Places, a non-denominational nonprofit organization, to explore potential partnerships for existing churches and new uses for under-utilized church buildings.
The group retreat portion of the Churches & Sacred Places Retreat begins Monday at 1:00 pm and ends at 4:30 pm. Attendees will spend five minutes sharing a challenge or issue that once solved will move their project forward. These brief presentations will be followed by a group discussions with peers, funders and technical support providers. If you find that you need more specific information from funders, you will be offered an opportunity immediately following the group retreat portion to sign-up for 15 minute one-on-one chats with funders: Lisa Ryan from the Preservation Trust of Vermont, Joshua Castaño from Partners for Sacred Places and/or Caitlin Corkins from The Vermont Division for Historic Preservation. Funders will provide guidance for specific funding sources available for your project. These chats will happen in Zoom Break-out Rooms in 15-minute increments offered Tuesday morning from 9 am to noon.
Space is limited to 10 projects. Multiple people per project may attend.
Once registered, you will receive an email approximately one week before the workshop with the directions to join via Zoom as well as helpful hints. If you have any questions, please be in touch with Lisa Ryan directly at (802) 917-2994 or email@example.com.
