Ann Cousins is a historic preservation consultant who lives with her husband, Barry, in South Burlington, VT. She worked for the Preservation Trust of Vermont for 17 years. During that time, there was a lively debate with Paul and Eric about which of them had the best job. Paul came up with the name “reverse income day” to describe the best of their work days. At the Preservation Trust, she worked on all aspects of the organization: major gifts; grants management; fundraising; creating a revolving loan program; technical assistance; coaching and encouragement for volunteer community organizations that were saving and using historic properties. Ann sees it as great privilege and learning experience that her work with PTV introduced her to all corners of the state.
When Ann retired end of 2014, Paul and the Board asked if she’d like to stay on as a board member. As a board member, she serves on the Easement Review Committee and occasionally helps with projects where she can offer some background from her tenure as a staff member.
Today, Ann continues to work as a preservation consultant doing historic and architectural documentation, regulatory review reports, and building condition assessments. In 2015, she and Barry formed CRM Associates LLC specializing in drone photography and filming. Their grandson helps with technical expertise, youthful enthusiasm, ideas and good company.
Ann’s early preservation work included serving as the Cultural Heritage Coordinator for the Lake Champlain Basin Program where she managed National Park Service-funded grants for cultural heritage work in NY and VT and the underwater Lake Champlain cultural resource survey. She also worked for the Town of Williston as their Certified Local Government Coordinator.
