Gazette Building, Hardwick

Constructed in 1850, the Gazette Building is the oldest building on Hardwick’s main street and is located on the bank of the Lamoille River. It was owned by the Hardwick Gazette, a non-profit newspaper that serves the town and surrounding communities. When the Hardwick Gazette was sold and moved to an online publication, there was no longer a need for a building and the space on Main Street became vacant. The Civic Standard, a community group with a mission to preserve community bonds by bringing people together through a variety of programs and events, purchased the building in 2023. Funds will support foundation work, which will repair the foundation and make it more resilient to future flooding events.
