Aldrich Public Library, Barre

The Aldrich Public Library was constructed in 1908 and funded by the estate of Leonard Aldrich, a successful Barre businessman. The Colonial Revival Library, located on City Hall Park, is part of a cluster of prominent buildings in downtown Barre, including five churches and Barre City Hall and Opera House. Much of Barre’s downtown was flooded in July 2023, but the Library experienced minimal damage, which allowed it to play an important role in the post-flooding recovery efforts. A $1,700 grant will support the restoration of the front doors.
